I'm thinking of ordering 16x DVD-R taiyo yuden 100 pack from superdealproducts.com for $29 How do I know that they are authentic yuden? Has anyone on here dealt with superdeal before?

Those are TY "Valueline" discs. There has been lots of debate here as to whether those really are TY and whether or not they're any good, but, basically, they are Grade B as far as the factory's quality-control is concerned.

I'd just buy the premium stuff from rima.com. Or use Verbatims.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

I bought Taiyo Yudens from Super Deals before when it had that big white Value Sticker on the side. They seem to work fine for me and when I checked the media code it said TYG03. I've also bought Taiyo Yuden White Hub Inkjet DVD-R 8x for my own personal collection from there without any problems.

mwong168- Doc Ty ( aka Kivory666 ) Has addressed this issue Value Line Vs. Premium Taiyo Yuden Media and several other Distinguished Afterdawn.Com members as well ! and If my memory serves me right The Doc said that The Difference between The valueline & Premium Other than price is as follows- 1. The Valueline Disc generally come packaged in shrink/tape wrap- Taiyo yuden does this type packaging as well as Ritek . 2. The Value line Taiyo yudens Do measure slightly lower scores on a high tec machine That taiyo yuden uses for quality control And those that are of a certain high score are selected & packaged in the premium line ,Those that are excellent in other respects but Do not Meet that score requirement are Sold as valueline Media .3. The premium line media Is Normally sold in Cakeboxes - Normally I said ,because I have seen them offered in tape wrapped spindles as well ! But Generaly They will be in cakeboxes ! The General consensus among afterdawn members is that Taiyo Yuden media is the Best Media atleast in the dvd marketplace _ with Verbatim being equal or a close second ! Their valueline media is good stuff I bought 600 a couple of years ago and I'm still usinfg them ! I think Doc ty used an analogy of comparing Premium Versus Valueline taiyo yudens Like This " Two kids take a test !, one scores a 100, The other a 96 ! Is one kid really that does that maean that the 100% score kid is really that much smarter than the other ? Or does it it just mean he scored better ! ? Keep in mind I'm paraphrasing The Doc here and he said it more eloquently than me for sure ! But that was the gist of it as i remember ! & Doc if I butchered Your analogy My apologies !a thousand Fold !!! - I would say speaking For myself that with taiyo yuden the difference in valueline & premium other than packaging is on the order of Differing trim packages in cars ! Do leather seats make the same model car better than one without Posssibly for some ? for others Cloth seats are just as functional and fine ! Long story short - If you want absolute ,absolute assurance that you are using the best media Use Taiyo Yuden ! if you want to be absolutely sure you are using the absolutely Best possible Media use the premium line taiyo yudens . IF the valueline works well for you ! mine do ! then you can use them as well or instead ! as in all purchases the fianl vote is cast by the buyer ! Hope this helps !

I use the TY 8x premium white hub inkjet printables and they come in that tape wrapping. I just recently bought another spindle of TY Valueline in the tape wrap and notice now it does not specify Value on the side of it. I did notice that the centre hub sticker on the outside does not have a media code printed on it for Valueline but for the 8x white hub inkjet printable it has the TYG02 code printed on it.

I have had less problems with my TY premium and valuelines and now I am learning my lesson with some old Ritek and Princo I used back in the day lol

mwong168- Taiyo Yuden Is generally Great stuff so you've laerned a lot already ! The Only Problem I ever had with Taiyo Yuden other than Human errors ( it happens sometimes ) is a Had a MIJ Fuji( taiyo yuden ) disc that Had a Inclusion ( piece of Grit ? Dirt,Crud, debris or whatever Molded into the writing surface ( recordable area) of the disc ! other than that No worries !

Thanks for the info but I was asking if they are authentic taiyo yudens at superdealproducts.com?? I was going to order some from there because it is cheaper than ordering from blankmedia.ca I heard yuden is the best to use but there are some people trying to pass dvd's as authentic yuden but they aren't.

TY media is the most widely-counterfeited type. The code doesn't mean it's genuine TY.

Some folks like to do quality scans in Nero CD/DVD Speed, although you need a drive that properly supports the test procedures.

Hope what you got is the real thing and it works out for you.

Even that doesn't mean anything. You have to look at the inner hub marking and ensure they are consistant with the flavor of TY media you purchased. Look at the first page of this thread to see what I mean First Page
