first off i was told that this is a great place to learn about dvd ripping and dvd backup. that being said, am i allowed to talk about programs such as dvd decryptor and the sort. or how to make a back up of a new movie that i own.

Welcome to the forum. A good place to start learning is by reading
some of the guides and user submitted guides. One in particular
that I learned a lot from was under user submitted guides. It was
called RipIt4Me, Shrink and Imgburn (all free programs) written by
Alcohol. That combination will do anything out there. There are
also a lot of other good guides on the use of other software.
If you have a specific question, there are a lot of really knowledgeable people that pitch in and help. Can't tell you how
much they have taught me.

sweet, yeah right now i have rip it 4 me but have no clue how to use it. i usualy just use dvd decyptor. ripit4me asked if i wanted to create a pcl file for dvd decryptor. thats were i stopped and didnt go further. do i really need a pcl file.
