this a custom firmware for dvp 5140/12.

firmware:
1. Vol- with repeat key and vol+ with reapeat AB key
2. File browser 20 chars
3. Auto load subtitle
4. 60 chars bug
5. srt 1 second bug
6. Cat background
7. Transparent, outlined 19,20,21 arial fonts (codepage 1254)
based on Philips latest (V12.06.18.17)
8. subtitle size Fix

how to upgrade:

Unzip the firmware you downloaded. That should leave you with a file named DVP5140_12.BIN (mind the capitals, the upgrade process is case-sensitive!).

Burn this file to a CD-R or CD-RW disc using your favourite burn software. The file is not a disc image! Rather start a new data CD and add DVP5140_12.BIN as a file to the root of this disc.

Once the disc has been burned, power on your player. Open the disc drawer, insert the disc, close the drawer.

The player will inform you that a new firmware has been detected and asks if you want to upgrade. Press "PLAY" for Yes. The upgrade process starts and the drawer opens. Take out the disc and wait. Do NOT turn off the player or it will be the last thing you'll ever do with it.

After a few minutes the drawer will close and the player will reset. You now have an upgraded firmware
