I looked at all the main boards and I didn't find one for problems with burners, so I am asking here, since this seames the closest to it. Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Anyways I am using the Lite-On LH-20A1P-186 DVD burner, and after having no trouble burning using alchohol 120%, I just noticed when I have a blank DVD in the drive, the D: drive (which is my dvd burner)does not seem to read the disk, it says it is a cd with no memory available and no memory recorded. I updated its firmware from the Lite-On website, but it is doing the same thing. I even formatted my harddrive thinking maybe a virus I had detected messed with something, but after installing windows xp again, it does the same thing.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Are you just looking at the drive in my computer when the disc is inserted?
The normal for windows to show as a cd drive with nothing available.

Having any problems burning or alcohol recognizing the discs?

I just got Nero and it seems to recognize everything about my disk drive, and the space on the blank disk.... I guess I just never noticed that the icon in My Computer doesn't allways show the info of the disk.

You're fine - windows doesn't show this info and changes the drive to a cd when a disc is inserted.
