To go with a new HDTV, the salesperson recommended, and we bought an
Acoustic Research protector that claims to "Conditions power flow and protects against power surges." This thing makes way too much noise and cost $40. Has anyone purchased a surge protector that makes a loud annoying humming noise? Could this be normal, or is it messed up? Thanks for any input. Tom

You ain't gonna get no real 'conditioning' for $40. A decent surge protector cost more than that. Mine don't make any noise.
