I'm trying to convert an AVI file to dvd and during transcoding to my hard drive I get an error.
I keep on getting errors all of a sudden saying:

[04:09:05] DVDEngine ERROR
[04:09:05] DVDEngine cause: 11 (max_size_exceeded)
[04:09:05] DVDEngine source: _DVDVideoBase
[04:09:05] DVDEngine description: VTSTT_VOBS is 10886008832, but shall be at most 9663657984.

Is this a memory error?

Try ConvertXtoDVD or some other app.
