I have had nothing but good luck with FUJIFILM DVD+R 16X (RITEK) until recently. I used up my last pack of 25 last week which I had bought about 6 months ago. Then I bought a spindle of 100 because I trust the FUJIFILM brand. I have burned 12 drink coasters straight in a row. I went back to Verbatim DVD+R 16X and they work as well as they ever did. Has anyone had a similar experience with recently purchased FUJIFILM media? I now have about 88 blank DVDs I can not use.

Please clarify those so called coasters?
Did they coaster out during the burn?-you'll notice the discoloration of the dye from the actual burn.
Failed during the lead-in phase? When it asks for a blank disc and then tells you that there is no disc in it after you place that fuji in.
Playback issues? So they actually got burned,just a crappy playback-Pixellation,freezing,jumping,skipping,no disc errors on stand alone player/s.
What's the MID code for the successful fujis and the unsuccessful fujis? Ritek-P16/ Ritek-R04/PRODISC R05-001?
I know for a fact that Fuji uses prodiscs on some of their +16x media because I bought some by accident. PRODISC R05-001 to be exact,so a huge quality difference between them and the ritek fujis. My pif scans went down drastically,as well as playback issues.
BTW: Locate the spindles of Fuji that say made in japan,and you'll the Taiyo Yudens,which would be the best of all the fuji media. Notice anything with all those many different fuji codes,they outsource to a lot of different manufacturers. Some great,some good,and some are terrible.Another reason to stick with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
Some manufacturers for Fuji media use their own MID codes (Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, for example) and others use Fuji's excellent Oxonol dye (Ritek, Prodisc, for example) to get the Fuji business. Oxonol is a very environmentally stable dye, but it needs a higher laser power level than cyanine or azo cyanine dyes. If a drive does not have power reserves in its diode or does not have the proper firmware setting to record at higher power levels for Oxonol-based media, the recording results will be poor. The symptoms of a poor recording on a high quality disc and recording on a poor quality disc are nearly identical, and that means that judging the quality of the disc based on its playback results is jumping to conclusions.
