Hi,
I'm in the UK. Last night i tried to use DVD Rebuilder (freeware version) to back-up to DVD5 my DVD9 of the UK TV series Bugs. This is some 8 gig in size and holds 3 episodes of the show. It is PAL and region 2.
I ripped to HD with DVD Decrypter in file mode and removed unwanted material with VobBlanker (studio logo etc), saving the resultant files to a new folder "Vobbed.". Decrypter settings are as they were when i first downloaded it.
As soon as i directed DVD RB to the source folder of the 'Vobbed' files, i got the message Runtime Error '9' Subscript out of range. I didn't get as far as mapping the Working or Output folders. Clicking on OK closed RB.
At work a Runtime error is usually associated with memory problems so i did a cold re-boot of the PC and tried RB again, with the same result.
I still had some other ripped DVD files on the HD so i simulated re-encoding these and that worked ok. I have not altered RB settings since i was set-up by a friend.
I then tried RB on the original source files from the rip, with the same runtime error result.
I ripped again with DVDFabDecrypter and tried RB again both with these newly-ripped, unprocessed files and with them 'Vobbed', with the same error coming up.
I also processed the files, from both rips, through VobBlanker without doing any blanking or stripping, again with the runtime error appearing as soon as i map RB to the folder.
As a test on the ripped material i highlighted all the files from each rip, and each vobblank, one rip at a time and 'RAN' them in Media Player, which played all of them without any problems. All of each episode appeared to be there. The episode times also looked right.
I normally leave RB CCE encoding overnight, 5 passes in total, so that i have the result in the morning. In order to try and get my backup, and out of curiosity, i had DVDShrink read-in the files from both rips and the 'Vobbed' files, which it did completely as normal. I left it running overnight on one of the stripped versions, and first appearances this morning as i prepared to come to work suggested that the shrink and burn worked fine, at about 55%.
I'm okay now, i've got my back-up, but i'm puzzled about this. I'm still quite a 'newbie' to backing-up with anything but DVDShrink and would be happy for any advice on how to cope with any future re-occurance of this type of message.
Finally, BIG thanks to jdobbs for one BOSS program!
Thanks,
BOMDAS
