ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 256Mb Boot Issues

I have a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro 2 Rev2 mobo and was previously running an ATI X800 Pro gfx card...
However, with the introduction of games such as Splint Cell: Double Agent I needed one with Shader 3.0 and obtained the ATI Radeon X1650 Pro which installed without a hitch and allowed me to play quite happily...
On close down and restart the following day, again no problem...
But on the second day after installation my system failed to boot...
I have since ensured that the current bios is correct and I have the most recent drivers for both mobo and gfx card but the same thing happens every time I replace the old with the new and vice versa...
The system also seems to start every other day with the new gfx card, but not on consecutive occassions...
Any help out there?
