Hi. i recently got an UXcell 2 gig Glacier Mp4. the first thing i did was format the entire thing. Then i put some songs on it, but when i try to go to the movies folder on the mp4 it says: Empty Disk!
Can someone tell me whats wrong and how to fix it? Thnx

you probably have to put the video into the correct format(one that is readable by your MP3/4)If thats not the problem you have to format AFTER uploading the media into the media player.Hope I helped.

Just received from you Glacier Mp4 player 2Gb. Worked for 1 day then DEAD. Hourglass stuck on screen. I unstuck it but with wrong firmware. Can anybody send me the back up firmware for the GLACIER 2Gb from Uxcell.com

Plug it in to your computer(make sure its off at this time) and hold the play/pause button down while turning it on(still plugged in)....wait 15 seconds and let go and then quickly press fast forward.I had the same problem a week ago...your gonna have to do this every once in awhile(sorry) if the trick I gave you doesn't work, try variation(keeping only the step that tells you to hold down the play/pause button as a rule to always follow***)

Thank you for the tip Ghandi. Hey Seeking, did the trick worked for you?
I had the same problem with the hourglass but now is too late to do what Ghandi sais, I upgrade it wit the wrong firmware, then tried to reset it by short circuit the pins and now is dead lol I ordered a new one on ebay for $40 bucks. I'm courious if this works because I'm sure it will hapen again with the new one I will get sooner or later.

I emailed uxcell About the hourglass this was the reply. I have not done this as my pc will not access the MP4 it states it is connected but it is corrupt. Dear customer,
There are two steps for you to solve it out. But please make sure that your pc
is not affected by virus and your pc is not protected by any anti-virus
software. If your player is not Built-In Rechargeable Li-ion battery, you'd
better take the battery out at first, and if there are important files, you'd
better copy them on your pc. Normally, the firmware upgrade cannot cause any
loss of the files you have stored on your player.
1.Please install the CD: enter into the software that included in the CD,
choose SET UP MP3 utilities;
2.Please upgrade the firmware: firstly, please upgrade related firmware from
our website
(http://www.uxcell.com/uxcell/retail/info/infoLayout.php?faqtype=TDOWNLOADS&action=faq),
secondly, please have a check with your pc if the usb port is disconnected
with any other software except the mp3/4 player.
Thirdly, begin to upgrade. In the page of firmware upgrade, please click

After you finish the process of firmware upgrade, please switch the player to

oooh! I just re-read it...sorry your PC wouldnt recognize it...i don't have the problem because i use a MAC Os X and it automatically recognizes it...You should go to a friend or relatives house and try it on a different OS.

It is a joke seeking. I received the same e-mail from them. It is a email that they send to everybody. You can not expect anything from these chinesse, there is no custumer support.
There is no firmware on the website they gave you, BUT I see that in the last 2 days they addad some firmware files that were non-existent before. NOT FOR GLACIER though.
You can try the firmware for "Platinum 2.0" MP4 Playre Firmware" wich is similar but I can not guarantee because of the chinesse programers.

I got the computer to connect to the mp4 I just ignored the fact that it was not showing up as connected in ?my computer?. I loaded the platinum 2.0 . Now I have a lovely white screen. I wrote back to the Chinese and they assured me that the Glacier firmware will be on the site (given in the previous email) within 2 days.. Just have to wait and see.

maybe. I had the same white screen problem. Forget it. Just go on ebay, buy a new glacier different collor than the broken one and you will have 2 cases and 2 bateries for backup.
Hope thet the new glacier will work without problems and follow these instructions to mantain it:

I do hope the Firmware is added to the site. My response was similar.

I got mine from ebay. I have to send it back to Hong Kong. They say they will replace. I don't believe so but I sent it anyway. I sent just the case without battery. At least if they won't send me anything back I will have an extra battery for it. a battery is $10

I'm using another one right now. However I sent the broke one back and they say the sent me a replacement:
If they really did remain to be seen. If so then I will have two players, very good, I'll give one to my wife.
Now to avoid the hourglass error I'm very careful and I use "Safely remove Hardware" before unpluging from USB.
By the way I reccoment this company, they sell rebranded Glacier, they ship fast and they respond + is the cheapest:

Hello,
I'm from Brazil, and i got a mp4 glacier 2GB as well, and i got the same trouble too. Curious is that my pc recognizes an usb device (USB 2.0 (HS) ADFU DEVICE), but doesn't recognize the USB MASS STORAGE. That's why i can't recover a new firmaware, because when i select the firmware, i get the follow message: "Read or write device information failed! Please exit the porgram and check if device is conenecting!".

I recently got a Glacier as well. I'm a Mac user and my Mac does not seem to like it (Mac OS X 10.3.9). When I plug it into my mothers Mac (slightly more advanced) it seems to work fine, except when I try to play anything from it. It says everything is in the wrong format. I know I need to format it, but I can't find where to do that. Does anyone know and can help me? Help would be greatly appreciated. :)
PS. Does anyone know if I can get music from my Mac that I bought on iTunes to work? I also bought music videos and really want to play them but can't figure out how. Thank you so much! :)

What is Firmware:
Firmware is the software that is embedded into the hardware of device, this software controls the hardware and the user interface. Firmware's are on almost all electronic products that use microchips, from DVD players to MP4 Players.
A devices Firmware can sometimes be upgraded or updated and even modified, with MP4 Players, this is possible and is quite easy to do, however many times it is unnecessary and most likely will cause your player to 'die'.
If you are planning on 'upgrading' or 'updating' your firmware with another version that you have found, please read this entire section. Altering your firmware will invalidate any warranty that you may have on your player.
What will updating/upgrading your firmware do (and not):
Unlike Firmware updates with other devices, which allow devices to perform better, unlock features or even add new features, MP4 player firmware updates DO NOT add anything or improve anything on the device. This is why updating the firmware is pretty much pointless!
Firmware updates will not allow for new files types to play, it will not alter any existing feature or improve them. At most newer versions of firmware bring better looking or different looking menu layouts and may improve the load time from going from one feature to another. The biggest benefit that people with older MP4 players (those who bough player before May 2006) may want to look for newer firmware's for their players, as the newer firmware's allow better navigation of files stored on the players and better play list control.
If you wish to make your menus look better to that of newer MP4 Players, then you do not need to change the firmware, you can alter the firmware file to have the new menus in a different manner, which will reduce the likely hood of you damaging your player. To find out how to later the graphics and menu read the 'Modifying your MP4' section.
We at MP4 Nation recommend that you DO NOT try to update your firmware, more than likely you will cause your player to 'die' and it will not be able to work. If you have tried to change your firmware and your player had 'died' then please visit our 'dead' player restoration section(not available Yet).
