NEC 1100A can't read media Manufacturer ID!!

My NEC DVD+R 1100A can't read Media code/ Manufacturer ID off any DVD+R media. I have tried TDK, Memorex and Verbatim blank DVD+R media and none of the Media code can be shown when using DVDInfoPro to check the media info.

DVDInfo Pro shown:
Manufacturer ID cannot be read
Book Type Unknown
Media ID code speed Unknown
Track Density Unknown

Is my burner BAD??

My guess is that you are checking the mfr ID on blank media and with the ND-1100 (and several other writers) you need to burn something on the disc first.
