Ok in question we have a emachines W3107 tower with intergrated graphics and audio. When the monitor is plugged in and the pc starts the monitor just has a yellow light and shows no display. As soon as the monitor is unplugged from the PC it kicks the light green and says please check connection. It was working fine up until a couple days ago. The tower was not opened or any upgrades done. Any idea's??

its possible a number of pieces of hardware inside your computer may have broken or failed without really opening it up checking connections resocketing things and testing with back up components it may be very difficult to pinpoint the problem

I don't know much about emachines, don't know if we have them here in uk, I see alot of threads with people cussing them though.

Anyway, if you can try plug another video card into your emachines pc, if it's got the ports (AGP, PCI-E)? Go from that card to the monitor and see if it works, if it does you know its the onboard graphics on the emachines.

Try resetting the bios, you may have a jumper you can place on headers on the board to do this (check manual), if not just take out the battery (round silver battery, like a big watch battery) and leave it out for about a minute, put it back in and turn your system on. Remember to unplug and turn off your psu before doing stuff with the mboard, and ground yourself of any static electricity first too.

If both those don't work might be the mboard is buggered, or someone else should have some good suggestions for you too...
