Great price on the regular Verbs, but still too much for the DLs. I don't know if they'll ever come down.

The DL price is $14.99 in store, but the DVD-/+R 50 packs were full price. It sucked, because I went there for the DVD+Rs 50 packs. I guess I'll just have to hit Best Buy, because they have them on sale this week for $12.99 too.

It's still $1.49 a disc for DL compared to $.20 to .30 a disc for 4.7gb. Got to come down under a buck at least for me to do these crappy movies that I've been seeing. I maybe use 5 DLs a year.

got a good point there garmoon. the movies that are out right now arent worth putting on a vhs tape..lol i thought that was a good price for 10 of them DL.plus if ya got any empty ink carts office max will give ya 3 buck for a cart.i got a couple i might get me 10 of them for $9... that would drop the price to .90 cents a disc..lol

Funny you should mention VHS Tapes. I just threw 50 good movie tapes away. I have them on DVDs now. It seems such a waste tho.I guess our kids will be throwing away our passed-down DVD collections in place of the newest technology that they just need to have.

I wish you would have thrown them my way! I keep te commercial VHS tape fter I find the title on DVD. Same with SP (2 hour) speed home records of movies off of AMC or TCM. I find the DVD & keep the old VHS. Only way I toss a tape is if it has commercials & I can find the title on DVD.

These were all commercial bought VHSes. But the tape will deteriorate after about 20 years.

Are you sure about that? I've got a few pre records & many SP speed home recorded tapes that still play well going on 20 years & some around 25 years or so. Either I'm lucky or I've stored them well on shelves.....

Bought my first VCR in 1983, still have some of the original movies (recorded from TV) and they still play well.

Last year I threw away over 130 7" reel to reel tapes that the tapes had deteriorated on, most were made in the 72-75 era. Great music but I got most of them replaced with mp3s years ago, so no real loss. The tapes played poorly but were stored on shelves in closet under AC. Some great party tapes of hard rock.

I just transferred my VHS home movies from 1981 on to DVDs and they play well, but I couldn't afford to wait any longer to get them transcribed for fear of losing them.

Yes it's called sticky shed syndrome. Tapes made before & after that time period don't have the problem. I had to throw away some cassettes using Ampex tape from the mid 80's that started to squeel on playback.

wondering if you still got the reel to reel player?,boy that would be worth alot of money in the long,it's funny how you throw away stuff you need and down road you end up need'in it again or you find stuff you hav'en seen in awhile they 1 man's junk is another man's treasure lol..I got alot vhs movies but it's not worth tranfer'in on dvd takes to long,plus it's better to go get them again..

No actually, I put two reel to reels out at the curb. They lasted longer than I thought. Although they didn't have dolby built in, each had an adjustable dolby unit for each two channels. One was a Sony stereo and the other an Akai quadrophonic adeck, the original 4 track tape 7" reel to reel deck, actually 4 independent tacks. Purchased in 1972 while in Korea. With 3 doly units. They set me back $800 +shipping.(1972 dollars) but also 1972 Yen. The interesting part is the Sansui 6500 Quadraphonic tuner-amp, still plays wonderfully with 4 matched Pioneer Speakers:15" woofers and myriad tweeters and midrange. Not exact 2007 standards, but I could blow up my den if I ever turned the volume max. LOL
