I'm looking for a laptop for school but i would like for it to be able to play games too. I know what hardware and whatnot I want on it, I just never bought a laptop before so could you guys help me decide on a reliable brand? (i hate laptops but i need one for school)

if you need a laptop for school, why not adapt the 2 computer system (myself and most of my nerd friends have)?

have a desktop built for performance, and a light, long battery life laptop that's small (13-14 inch screen at best) and easy to carry, which will allow you to haul it all over (and love it), and then synch with your desktop quite easily when you need to.
