On Casino Royale, a Columbia film, I was asked to upgrade to a new ripit4me version. But the upgrade appeared to really be for the companion FixVTS which led me to their newest update. There is a new
ripit4me beta, but it is not necessary for Casino Royale. Its the high number of files which are causing the rub on new Sony-columbias, and FixVTS and Vob Blanker are the critical updates necessary, because old versions can't handle the 100 and more files which are the norm now on Columbia-Sonys. A little explanation: FixVTS and Vob Blanker both perform roughly the same function, but are separate softwares. You only need one of them to work its magic. FixVTS seems paired with Ripit4me by the creators of one or both softwares. Sony has upped the
ante by making the file name invisible to Shrink while increasing the
number of files, many of them bogus, to 100 and more, causing problems for the usual Shrink AnyDVD solution or even the Shrink DVDFAB solution.
Used version 1.7.0.0 of RipIt4Me on Casino Royale with ease. When opening this version the first time, it prompted me to change a number to "300" - so I just said ok. Must be related to the large number of bad sector files planted on the disk.
Anyway, it worked just fine, using only the free tools.
