Hi
I have a idvd16dd, which I use as a external using a USB case. I have used it successfully to write DVD's from this drive on DVD-R, DVD+R,

DVD-RW.
Just recently (without any firmware upgrade. using Version: A091 ), it started to fail on writing on any DVD media I have. I was successful in

only 1 writes on a DVD-R, out of my last 20+ attempts. I like to use RW media but Nero will stop recognizing the drive itself when I insert a

RW media. I have posted a log below - I compiled the whole thing and just before pressing BURN, I inserted the below listed RW media.

Now while using this drive as external, I have a case, which I also swap to use for a 200gb internal hard drive. while reconnecting the dvd

writer, I make sure all connections are tight.

I also tried to update Firmware to A190- but still the same problem

1. You need more memory.
.. If you can't add more, turn off everything you do not need.

2. Nero Version: 6.6.1.4 has bugs.
.. Read this post.

3. File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=5.10
.. This is Roxio's driver. Nero doesn't play well with Roxio.
.. Uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool found here.

4. File 'Drivers\PXHELP20.SYS': Ver=2.03.28a
.. This is from RecordNow. It may cause a problem.
.. See this post.

Nero 6.6.1.4

This version of Nero contains some bugs, uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html and then install this more stable version, BOTH packages

Package 1:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
Package 2:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

To explain..Not good....it is recommended to have a minimum of 512mb RAM to burn successfully, suggest you add a further 256mb.
