Problem with save tracks feature.

I am using Nero 6.6.0.15. When I use the save tracks feature, I set the output format to WAM. In the settings window I select audio for cd-quaility transparency (128kps stereo)(128kbit). After saving tracks from different cds, I check the file and find I have 100mb file. after I compile the cuts from the file, I check compilation properties and find that size has gone from 100mb to 791mb with a total time 78:21. I burn the cd and find that the last cut will not play correctly. What am I doing wrong?

Why does the size of the source material change?
Whats the best all around setting for burning good sounding compilations, while maxing out the total time?
