Can anyone please tell me how to make my Sony DAV-SC5 dvd player REGION FREE ???

I did see a thread on "videohelp,com" but it was in 2003 - and I was wondering if there were any updated ways to do this, as it needed a laptop to act as an IR control ?? I have a desktop - not a laptop - so can the decoding be done using this instead ?

I would appreciate step-by-step guides as I am not that experienced with dvd players, but not bad with a pc lol !!!

I am Registered Disabled and Unemployable after 6 back operations, so if I can buy dvd's from the internet I could save a fortune, as here in the UK - the prices they charge are a total rip-off !!!!
