um so, ive been burning dvds wid ANY DVD, Nero and 8.5 gb dvds, but this is gettin expensiver 8.5 gb dvds are expensive. Is there a way to compress the dvd to fit on 4.7 without losing the menus or the quality of the dvd. And is there another prgrm besides DVD Shrink that does that, thats like as easy as ANY DVD or something. And if ther is another prgrm for compressin, can i use ANY DVD with it. And can i use ANY DVD with DVD Shrink, if i hav to use DVD Shrink.

well Nero Recode 2 Does A Great Job.I Use That It comes in Nero 7 that you can pick up at best but and i think even walmart has it too(some walmarts) It Does entire Disk And The Quality Is Lost a Little but i cant even tell the diffrence with My Movies.Another is,123 Copy dvd Its does A Good Job and you dont have to use AnyDVD with that because it gives you a decryption patch.Its a little tricky at first but after that its simple.

@kunalk

Nero Recode will do movie only, no menus, or do full disc. AnyDVD can be used with Shrink on older movies, the newer ones are not now operating with Shrink. You can use ripit4me in movie and menu mode and it will open the files in Shrink where you can decide what to do. This gets around AnyDVD not working with Shrink. AnyDVD also works with CloneDVD2 (not free) and will do, I believe, movie and menus. I have it but seldom use it.It's agreat combo tho. There are miriad ways to do these movies. Try ripit4me with Shrink. It can handle anything. Use the 1 click mode in Ripit4me. I just do movie and don't worry about menus, you can still skip thru chapters. It also cuts down on compression.

Hehe Garmoon, you are absolutely right about the myriad ways. The more folks like you and me hang out here the more programs we end up using. I don't even know how may I have.
I now have a policy to rotate through all my programs and methods. I'll burn three or so one way, then use something else the next time and so on. Last night I used AnyDVD with Recode. Tomorrow I think I'll use Ripit4me.

Of course I still want more to play with so I'm going to buy DVDFab Platinum. My trial is about done and it's been a pretty damn good all in one DVD copy program.

For those who don't know, it's just the free DVDFab Decrypter with added bells and whistles. (Actally DVDFD is Platinum without the bells and whistles) The trial is fully functional, the program is updated frequently and it handles new encryptions very well. If anyone is looking for "quick easy and reliable" it may be the way to go.

sticking to the original question:

well..... there are many programs out there that does a great job of compression and members like fastfrank and garmoon have many as I do myself:

but the best one that I like is DVDRebuilder..... it's an encoder that breaks down the DVD into video and audio.... then it will re-encoder the DVD to a smaller footprint to make it fit onto a DVD5. Doing a DVD this way takes longer but the quality is sooooooo much better than a transcoder like Shrink or Recode or CloneDVD (which are faster, because they don't break the DVD down into it's components of video and audio... these programs adjust to fit onto the DVD5 so that makes it faster--that's the easiest way I can explain it). Using DVDRebuilder takes a little understanding and time to do your settings but as you use it more and more often the settings become second nature and you just set it and go! Best program for quality out there! IMHO!
