Here are the specs of the TDK disk I bought from Costco:

Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD+R:CMC MAG-M01-000]
Disc & Book Type : [DVD+R] - [Not Available]
Manufacturer Name : [CMC Magnetics Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [CMC MAG]
Media Type ID : [M01]
Product Revision : [Not Specified]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,295,104 Sectors = 4.70 GB (4.38 GiB)]
Recording Speeds : [1x-2.4x , 4x , 6x-8x , 6x-16x]

At first I thought my modchip was DOA but then I tried my friends backup and it worked perfectly. Found out it was the TDK. I burned it at 2X and still no go. These DVD's work great for movies but CRAP for Wii backups. Just wanted to let everyone else know. Inputs welcome!

The reason is right there in the second line.

cmc mag

Jump over to the DVDR forum and search around. Anything cmc makes is crap.

I've been burning all of my games on (TDK DVD+R 1-16x 4.7gb) disc and have not had any problem. I am using Nero 7.5.7.0 and buring at 6x. Have not had one reading error or one game not work.

@leosdesk - can you use DVD identifier (Freeware, easily found on Google) and provide us with the specs of your DVD+R's.

I am using Nero 7.8.5.0 and also CloneCD (newest version as well) to burn these games. I bought some Maxel DVD-R's today and burned at 8X with NO problems at all. The Wii read it perfectly.

Hope to hear some input from you guys soon!

Thanks for your prompt reply leosdesk! I think the +R and -R may have made the difference, EVEN though on the Wiikey website they claim to be able to read both.

Thanks again!
