Patching wii iso dumps.. is this required?

Hi

Reading about in other forums on wii backups etc i read this:


"Getting your backups ready to play
After you acquire your backup, check the following:
If it's 4 699 979 776 bytes, it's unscrambled.
If it's 4 700 012 544 bytes, it's unscrambled with unscrambler 0.4 which adds an extra 32 768 bytes to the file (JESUS release)
If it's 4 736 698 368 bytes, it's in raw format and must be unscrambled with this tool." (the link didnt work so i dont know what the tool is)

Also is mentioned to patch NTSC iso with regionfrii tool to play on PAL units.

Is all this actually required as up until this point i thought 'raw dumps' burnt would work?

im thinking of using on wiikey if that makes any difference?

You do need to use RegionFrii to convert NTSC to PAL but not all NTSC games can be converted.

Heres a list of compatible NTSC Wii games

I would recommend using a WiiKey

Ah ok i thought that the region free setting when you use the wiikey setup disc would remove the need for regionfrii patching on the iso..

Do you need to use the unscrambler mentioned above?

If if you do come across some which need unscrambled, download Rawdump 1.3 and select "Convert raw to .iso".
