im looking for a program to rip dvds to AVI files on my ibook g4...if anybody knows of a good free program, or one thats not too expensive...

First you need to rip the files to your hard drive.
Try RipIt4Me.

Then to convert to AVI, try AutoGK.

well i already use mactheripper for ripping, like if i want to make a copy of a copy protected dvd, but idk if there's any way to skip the step of ripping and then converting, like just a straight rip to AVI

Maybe you can try imtoo dvd ripper
it can converter dvd to AVI, but it is not free
