Here's the problem. I have a dvd-drive and a cd-rom drive connected together. I can only use the cd-drive though. The cables and the jumpers are set correctly. I have tried to different cables and have ruled out a faulty IDE cable. In device manager, both the cd and dvd drive show up and are working properly, however under my computer, only the cd-rom drive is showing up. Any suggestions?

yes, the dvd drive is set as the master and the cd drive is set as the slave. they both show up under device manager but only the cd drive shows up under My Computer. I can only access the cd drive.

He's talking about the IDE cable that connects from the dvd drive (set as master), to the cd drive (set as slave) and then connecting to the mother board. The other Ide cable connects from the mother board to the hard drive. Hope that helps.

Also, you make the master and slave settings by changing the jumper (little rectangular plastic piece) on the cd and the dvd drive. It's located right next to where the ide cable plugs in and the settings for where to put the jumper should be on the front of the hard drive.
