TY Watershield, Glossy, Full-Hub Printable DVD-R's ?

Anybody try theses ?
I have an Epson R300 & have been using Verbatim Full-Hub Pritable media w/ much success. Just ran out & am thinking about trying these TY's. Have heard that TY's are the best.
Have had the diameter settings at 20 mm. Good results, using the Verb's
I was looking to see if anybody made glossy, full hub printables.
I saw these TY's.......What would the settings be for my Espon R300 w/ the TY's ?

Settings: I'd go with 20 inner and 119 outer,should get you pretty close. I use that setting for all my full hubs-Verbatim/Maxell/and Imation cds.
I also got my eye on some full hub shiny inkjet printables.

Here is someones review on SM, about those TY's you are talking about...
After printing 10 DVDR covers using TY water shield discs and my Epson R220 printer, it is safe for me to say that once the price of these DVDRs goes down, they will grab a sizable part of the home DVDR market. The print quality on these water shield discs is great, much clearer on the glossy surface than previous white surface DVDRs. I set the printable surface at 22mm inner ring, 117 mm outer rim and there was no problem printing the entire surface. The surface seems to be fingerprint resistant (I did not test them under running water like others have). I recommend these DVDRs, although at almost a $1 each, and no free shipping deals yet, they are costly.

here is from Rima...... I figured for $32.00 plus shipping I'll try them out. but I don't like the fact that they are DVD-Rs and 16x media! Wish they made these babies in the +Rs and 8x media because my BenQ burns those YUDEN000TO2 much better with better scans than the TYG03s! But I'll try them out just for Sh~ts and giggles.

just bought a set of 50...now I can't wait till Friday! cost of 76 cents each..... will see if it's worth it or not. And I will definitely test these babies out underwater too! LOL

@saugmon..... do you know why Taiyo Yuden is running scarce on the DVD+R 16x media printables? Can't find them at all..... or do they even make them anymore?

I don't even bother checking for Plus format inkjet printable media on the net- prices are atrocious, LOL.
Stricly dash format because they're usually half price vs the plus format.

the disks themselves are TY quality.... the glossy printables are the best! water or liquids won't harm them! I love them but I'll wait till the prices go down. I do get better Nero scans with the Yuden000T2s than these but it's still a great disk and they play on any DVD players. The picture on the disk comes out fantastic!~ A must have.

Greeting all! This is my first post. I have been reading here for quite sometime now and decided to join. I have been researching options for creating professional DVD discs. I started with lightscribe DVD, to CD/DVD labels, now I'm onto Printable DVD Media.
1. Lightscribe too expensive for B/W images.
2. CD/DVD refills are cheap, but you can only use center hub stickers on DVD, not full face. When I use full face, the movie ends up skipping. Then they have just DVD labels. At first I thought this was just a marketing ploy, but now I see it isn't. The DVD memorex printable labels are nice, but still too expensive, .75 for one label.
3. Now onto printable DVd media. This is the best choice since the media is about the same price as regular DVD-R media. The only extra cost is really the ink from printer.
Now the question is, I need the best possible DVDR media that will:
1. Play on the highest percentage of stand alone dvd players
2. Print a nice quality image on printable surface.
3. Provide a nice disc life longevity.
If I can find the perfect disc for this that would be great. Im tired of finding Media that will play on my stand alone player as well as my parents and friends player. Any one here have a nice chart for compatibility? Any one know the best Printable DVD Media for Stand Alone DVD Players? I don't mind paying more, just want the best solution, I don't have enough drinks for these coasters. How can you buy a DVD from the store, and it works everywhere...I want those DVDs!

Recordable DVDs cannot be as compatible and durable as the movie DVDs you can buy simply because the movie DVDs have their information molded into the plastic base while recordable DVDs only have a wobbled groove guide molded into the plastic. The information recorded onto DVD+/-R discs is in the form of dark marks made into an organic dye by a heating laser. It's amazing it works at all!
There are two very durable ink-jet solutions on the market, both of which are very expensive: Taiyo Yuden's water resistant WaterShield on glossy white labels and Imations's water proof AquaGuard on matte white labels. Polyester adhesive labels from Memorex and Neato also work but are also expensive. Paper labels on DVDs, as you have found out, is a disaster.
All other ink-jet solutions are less expensive but susceptible to water damage or smudging. LightScribe and Labelflash are not cheap either and are monochromatic as well as time-consuming--both using up your drive's finite laser life just for printing. (A 20X drive with LightScribe--five minutes to create a disc full of errors and half an hour labeling it before throwing it away because it won't play. What's the point?)

Unless you can afford either the water-proof/-resistant labels or polyester labels, the best choice is an ink-jet disc from a brand that is compatible with your drive. Just keep them away from water or wet fingers.

1)To help with stand alone player compatability,get a booktyping capable drive like Plextor,Liteon,Benq,LG.
2)Get quality taiyo yuden or Verbatim plus format media,set them to be booktyped to dvd-rom and those dreaded no disc/dirty disc/wrong region/wrong format/and illegal disc error displays on your drives should be resolved.
Stand alone player compatability:
Dash will play in around 70% of all drives. Plus format around 50%.
Booktype the plus format to dvd-rom,then you're above 95+%.
There's some low quality crappy drives out there,and stand alone players can have a harder time with their backups.These lower quality burners also have more trouble with media issues-playback issues,compatability,coasters.
I couldn't locate the ty watershields or Verbatim glossy in the plus format. Only the dash format.
Dash format inkjet printable:
Get the glossy white full hubs for the best picture. Also the Full hub shiny inkjet printables.
Plus format inkjet printable:
That I'm aware of,only the matte full hub white and reg hub shiny are available. Not as quality of a cover,but if booktyped-they should play just about anywhere you want.
3) Ty or Verb-should last longer than the rest.

This media kicks butt, I used to use only verbatim printable dvd- media. After I come across this media and finally got my hands on some, I now found my new media of choice.
These disc are not perfect by any means, the print area is smaller than the verbatims full hub. On the verbatims I used the dimensions 119 - 21, with the T.Y. I use 118 - 22. And it seems the outer dimension varies from 118 - 117 on the T.Y's. That's my only gripe about them, here is a sample of verbatim vs T.Y.
First two are the T.Y's Last two are the verbatims, printed with the same settings using a r200, sorry for the poor pics, damn I need to learn how to take pics:)

- if those are poor pics, i dread to think how good the good pics would be :)
i have no interest in printable discs myself, i prefer good old sharpies, but i am very impressed with the results that can be achieved. Sure brightened up the forums a bit there, nice one.

Great covers!!! The ty's are the watershields and she's shining pretty good on the top pic. I see some white on the edges of the tys. Looks like your print position needs lowered by .1 mm,then raise the outer to 119 or 120 mms.If it prints any excess,then you can wipe it off.
Same on the verbs, .1 mm down.
Those are still some great covers.I can't wait to get my hands on those ty watershields.

No, generic ink from Abacus. They should.

That's my only con from the TY's, the outer white edges are not printable, the ink smears on the outer edges. Yeah, if I print with 119, I will get nothing but smeared ink on the edges. And with the verbs, my R200 just needs to be calibrated, just to lazy:0. I am not sure if I got a bad batch, since I am still on my first. So if any other users can chime in, that will be helpful.
Yeah, the verbs are matte.
Overall I still would recommend the TY's, amazing print quality even on my aging R200.
