Hi,
My vaio all of a sudden has problems (see post: Sudden Problems in Vaio...), and I'm in a bind to either get it fixed or upgrade a few months to a year early. It's a lot faster to buy now and fix later, so I am again looking at laptopas, but want to get one that will last at least 4/5 yrs but preferably longer--I'm not rich enough to upgrade once every 6mo/yr. I looked at toshiba A135-S4467, but button layout a little annoying and though I told myself I would shop price over preferred brand--I'm now looking at vaios again. I hate hp/compaq, and if not the available toshiba model, then I'm back to my favorite (but I always search around until I find a deal that equalizes them to others on price). I'm looking at the C-Series, really want the 2G RAM (so wont have to replace 2x512 later) and so the VGN-C240E/H and above. I like the SZ too, but can't afford many of those. The C240 is core 2 duo T5500 1.66GHz processor (32 bit), 2 RAM, 160 HD (5400rpm), vista premium. After that it's vista business. C291 has same (maybe T7200 processor, but could be 5500 also, don't remember) stuff, but a 64 bit core 2 duo. Do I need a 64 bit for the future's sake? I know it didn't take off like they meant for it, but I figure it will gradually progress over the next few years. Will programs need it, or just newer OS? Anybody know how often they release major Microsoft OS (xp to vista)? I'm not a video gamer, I really do like to do media (photography, music collection), but am not a graphics design major, but I also want to keep it ready for future changes, programs, projects, etc. Also if anyone has any specific reviews/advice on model or other suggestions, please let me know! Thank you for the time.
