What has happened to these discs, i have used them for years with next to no problems but nowadays i have some major issues trying to get past the burning lead in stage with DVD Decrypter also using Nero, im using a pioneer 110 writer. Looking for alternative better brand discs in the same price bracket, also may add that im in the UK.

If you're in the UK, then you can take advantage of the Verbatim branded, Taiyo Yuden manufactured discs! A few of us have adopted the saying "sexy verb tys", lol.
