So i mistakingly placed the usb cable that connects my broadband modem to my PC into the broadband modem's Ethernet socket and well i tried plugging my PS3's Ethernet into it the next day and the Ethernet light didnt come on so basically i think i broke the Broadband Modem's ethernet socket any way of fixing it or should i just go and buy a new Wireless Modem?

more than likely you fried part of the circuit in the modem & not damaged the connector.
