Back up Gamecube title on Wii

Hello.

just a question. i have wii (obviously) and tonite, i borrowed Gamecube title from a friend.

insert it on wii and it detected the disc and after clicking the Gamecube disc, wii just stop there and did not do anything.

well, i did not plug any GC controller or GC memory since i don't have both (i just wanted to see if wii can read GC title)

so, is it normal that wii will not do anything without the GC controller? or at least it will take me to the GC menu part?

just a question i need to know coz i can't wait til tomorrow when i will get my GC controller n memory card
