I plan on maybe buying a Wii for the gun games and fighting games, like sword fights and so forth. I don't know if they've released any type of these games out yet, all I've seen is the cutesy tennis and baseball games. Has anybody heard about whether Nintendo plans on putting any blood and gore on the shooting and fighting games, or are we gonna get light scratches and a drop of blood coming out when you cut someone's head off or impale them with a sword?

Godfather is the best i'd say its much better then teh Ps2 version graphics it has an improvement one is Better shadows,Better textures on faces.
2)It keeps at a mcuh more stable framerate i'd say near 60fps.

K; this has been discussed. The notion that "Nintendo has wised up" to violence in games is completely and utterly ignorant.
Nintendo is still producing the same kind of games they have been all along. They aren't getting any more violent by any means.
The violent games you are seeing are from third parties like Ubisoft, EA, and Rockstar. Nintendo has always been open to them; but third party publishers just haven't been interested until now.
So, to say Nintendo was making some big mistake by not making these games which they have now corrected, is severely misinformed.
Yes, third party support is at a high, but it's not that Nintendo wasn't interested before. Do you really think Nintendo wasn't interested in Farcry or GTA on the Gamecube? They lost a lot of people over titles like those; I'm just glad third parties are coming over finally.

I disagree. I've seen more publicity concerning Nintendo actively seeking 3rd party support than I remember back when the cube was launched.

I agree on that much, at least.

Nintendo has not always been open to them. Nintendo relationships with third parties has always been sour. When Iwata took over, it began to mend, but yeah; It's pretty well-known that Nintendo's lack of third party support is still (at least somewhat) in part due to Nintendo's past history of bullying 3rd parties. As for the blood and gore, titles licenced on Nintendo systems have traditionally been less violent as a result of Nintendo restrictions.
here's an old link that illustrates my point:

True, but that is the result of Prior Nintendo practices. Nintendo drove themselves into such a "kiddie konsole" hole that 3rd parties no longer had much of a fanbase in Nintendo Consoles.
Like I said, I have seen more 3rd publisher support for the Wii than Gamecube, and especially more aggression on Nintendo's part to get those controversial franchises to a Nintendo platform. (Which wasn't the case with Gamecube.)
But, handsom, you are right that it's not Nintendo that makes the violent games, but 3rd parties. So to answer Zac2000's question: No, Nintendo doesn't plan on putting and blood and gore on their fighting games. 3rd parties, however, do. Godfather, Far Cry, No More Heroes, Manhunt 2, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, etc. Those are games coming to (or already on) the Wii that are fairly violent.

I had forgotten about the prior practices, especially in the days of the N64... Ick. I was a sad owner of the N64, in the days when PS1 was getting all the good games.
I will say that Nintendo seemed to start really reaching out snce the dawn of Gamecube, when they went so far as to pay third parties, such as capcom and sega for more third party titles. But then again, you don't generally hear as much about a system when it's entire lifetime is a slow, tedious death, aka Gamecube. The Wii is getting a lot more publicity, which is making more third parties warm up to the idea of 'ye olde nintendo' again, lol. The success of the DS is probably a huge factor in this trend, which I hope, continues for a long time. It's clear that the old system(A la N64) of 'screw third party, we don't need it' was obviously a terrible idea.
Do you remember what year Iwata stepped in, by chance?

That makes perfect sense, that's when Nintendo started pursuing Capcom and other third parties. Too bad Iwata's predecessor had soiled the company's name beforehand.

cool as long as someone's making em :) Nintendo wouldn't know how to make a bloody game anyway, they never have and would probably make it look hilarious.
