Playing psx backups on original playstation?

I heard that you can play psx backups on the original playstation using a gameshark. How do you go about doing that?????

I have a gameshark for the ps1. version 2.4

I have a backup for xenogears.

Hey Astro32, I don't know if GS 2.4 will work, but if it does, you will need to trick the PS1 into thinking that the lid isn't open so you can swap discs.

Do you have the old PSX, or the newer, smaller one called the PSOne?

Might not work.. but

You're gonna probaly need a spring.. or a straw.. (That's what I used)

You're gonna need that converter thingy..

1. You put in a real PSX game let it boot and when the disc stops spinning switch to the backup you wanna play (Make sure the lid is up with the spring or lil piece of straw)

2. Now start the game... Click on start game.. It should work..

Works fine for me.. but you need the Converter.. Not a gameshark... Might work though....

I think some version of GS works for this, I know my Action Replay Bonus disc with PS1 cheats allowed me to play my backups using the Swap Trick. I let my friend borrow it, too.

Why not just buy "PsXchange 2" it comes with a spring and a pvc card, all that you will need. Very easy.
