hi i am a newbe i have my wii-key and am getting my console thursday my question is i have a lg 4120b and have read i can only use the 8 series of drives is it possable to use the one i have ?????????tks

I'm not sure. I opted for upgrading my computer.

These work. I got mine from newegg.com for less then $30. It arrived the day after I ordered it. Install took less then 5 minutes. I would have been more upset if I had already had an internal DVD reader in that box. I've gone to mainly external equipment so I can use it with my MacBook. Works great.

I'm pretty sure it will work because I bought a GDR-8164BK off of newegg and i am able to make backups. I think as long as you have a lg drive, it works.

Damn, if that's true I just wasted $30. IIs that true with the external drives too? I have been using an external LG but thought it wasn't compatible.

Oh well. The drive I took out needed to be replaced anyways (CD only).

I have a LG GSA4163 DVD/RW Drive, & its about a year old. It wouldn`t read gamecube or wii. I bought the LG GDR8164 from Newegg, and its works fine.
