Just installed the wiikey and tried an original copy of Wii Sports, which worked fine, then tried a backup of Zelda, which would not play. I fixed a connection that looked questionable, tried Zelda again and it worked. Tried it a third time and it did not work again, tried backups of Wii Play and Red Steel multiple times, and those worked fine. Out of about 6 times trying Zelda, it played only on the 2nd and 5th time. Anyone have any thoughts on if it is just the disc or if my connections might be bad. The disc is Verbatim DVD-R burned at 4x, same as the other backups.
Also if it makes a difference, the icon always displays for the game on the Wii menu even at times when the game will not load.
Played Zelda for 3 hours without a hitch. But it still fails to load about 2 out of 3 times. Although I'm not sure, it seems more likely to load if I am just powering the console on as opposed to swapping a game.
Try burning at 2X (the slower the better) and or buy a more expensive (better) dvd burner. Did you remove the old solder on the connections before you soldered on the chip? I doubt this will make any difference, but you never know... Because when you remove the old solder you get a better bond and connection.
Nero doesn't give me an option to burn lower than 4x. I did not remove existing solder. All my other backups seem to be playing fine and Zelda plays fine once loaded, so I can't complain much.
Well then it is probably a small read or write error, you can prevent this by buying a better DVD Burner and or redumping the Wii/Gamecube disc and trying again. If this doesn't work then I honestly don't know what the problem is.
Did you make a rawdump copy of a copy? If so that could be your problem, I heard that when you make a RAWDUMP copy of a already copied Wii/Gamecube disc it either won't boot or has several problems/errors, I never actually tried it before so I honestly don't know if it's true or not.
I have the WiiKey installed on my Wii and I cant get my backups to work I have only tried to back them up to TDK DVD-R's should I be using Verbatim DVD-R's to backup my games onto? Im using rawdump 2.0 and a LG drive.
