I have been having problems with my new Sony External DVD burner. I can burn data but can not back up DVD movies. I have tried different software and media. Sony says that my processor is the issue. I currently have a 1.6 Pentium 4. I have enough hard drive space and RAM....Can I successfully burn a DVD movie with a 1.6 GHZ processor or is Sony trying to get me to upgrade? Is there anyone here who uses a 1.6 and has no problems? Thanks for your help!

Sony may be right - hate to say it though.
Some of the newer externals like the 18x speeds require faster processors to do the movies. Check the secs for the drive you have to see what it requires.
Reason I took back a Samsung - would work on my pc's but not my laptop.

If you get a 16x burner you may should be okay with the 1.6 ghz processor.
