Yeah but thats a search engine to find sites that have the games, you can't just type PSP ISO Downloads and expect a direct link for a game. Google will lead you to the types of sites where you download games, but really you won't find a public link on Google for downloading games.

It's not illegal to link to torrent sites, just direct torrents. All the kid was asking for was sites. Just give them to him and don't bitch about how "it's illegal". Why don't you, "Senior Members", ACTUALLY go and read the forum rules.

Apparently you're not as smart as you think. There's a part of the forum rules you think you know so well that goes like this:
Quote: Even if something isn't specifically mentioned in the rules, it doesn't mean that it would be permitted. It is up to the moderators and administrators to determine what is appropriate and what is not.
Anything to say about that?
smileydud,
We're not here to help you obtain pirated material so don't ask again buddy. Also, your sig is way too big. There's a link to the forum rules in my sig where you'll find the sig limts.

Yea, what do you think makes this site so popular? Your "great" members or the fact that it's one of the only good forums where you can talk about piracy and name torrent sites.
You act like your against piracy, but, I gurantee you that there's a million threads with that same list of torrents that i posted and was then removed. Are those posts and threads still there? Without a doubt they are.
Jesus, wow, because someone asks for a link to torrent sites to get ISOs and CSOs you flip out. I'm sorry but what else are 90% of torrents sites out there for. I'll take a wild guess and say pirated media. You might as well delete any reference to those sites everywhere on AD because you wouldn't want someone who wants to pirate media discovering that those torrent sites exist.

From my experience, the discussion of piracy & torrents on this site were because of people not following the rules. For example, people will sometimes make threads with links to PSP games or some megaupload link for a PSP ISO game.

Yeah.. i don't think that would be very easy since a lot of the stuff gets forgotten and sometimes mods don't notice these threads. But im quite sure most the piracy on here has been edited & deleted, but i haven't been around that long to really know. It really is a stupid idea to say that. And im sure those people looking for pirated material already know where to look and aren't going to bother looking on Afterdawn.

They're not "so-called". Ask the mods, I'm sure they prove by the I.P. adress that I'm the same user. And in terms of me being the one to talk, the mods on this site give so many other people the option of coming back under another account as long as they behave. Half the mods on this site preach about giving second chances. They may as well walk the walk while they're at it. And yea, sure I got banned, but I knew what I was doing and contributed. I know the rules, and every other time I've posted that list, no other mod has taken it down. Apparently it's up to the mod's "discretion".

thirst,
Follow my posts and you'll see I don't allow such threads and links to remain up so your point that other mods leave the stuff open is wonderfully pointless and you really shouldn't flatter yourself thinking you're the only one. You may not have picked up on this during your extensive travels in the forums but indignant self-righteousness never changes my mind nor does it win me over. Maybe it needs to be broken down in simple terms.
Me mod.
You not.
Mod says no links.
You don't post links.
Things are real easy with me. If I ask you not to do something, don't do it anymore and I leave you the hell alone. Piece of cake :)

Actually watas, under the dcma it is illegal to even copy a game you have paid for.. directly from the disk if that in any way circumvents any embedded copy protection. (I think that sucks too.. blame the US politicians for being in the pockets of big business interests and vote them out)
Downloading an iso not illegal if you have the game? Think again.. Fair use states you have the right to make a copy of software you have bought.. just one, and only for backup purposes. You cannot sell/trade/loan/swap or otherwise dispose of or use it.You also do not have the right to use or keep it after you have lost or sold the original.
The fair use right was taken away by the draconian dcma.
So downloading a file... it may be a copy of something you own.. but it is not a copy of the very item you own, it's a copy of one belonging to somebody else..
Fair use.. no..
Possessing and downloading illegally pirated software.. Yes
Just because thirst (soon to be banned again I'm sure) thinks he knows everything about the law and wants to argue with a moderator doesn't make him right.. It really makes him a little misguided, and puts him in an illegal position of advocating and encouraging the obtaining and use of pirated software or content by others.. Don't fall into the trap of believing that just because something is on the internet it is free.. It ain't.. it usually belongs to somebody.
Now if you want to go and be a pirate, and have a house full of illegal films, music, games and software that is a matter for your own conscience.. I don't care, and I don't want to know either..
The point is.. It isn't big or clever to crow about it.. You never know who may be watching or listening, and it is as wrong to encourage others to commit piracy as it is to do it yourself.. I think it's worse in many respects.. and strangely enough, so do the courts.
My 2c.. I think the rules should be clear.. apart from linuxtracker.org and a few other legal files only torrent sites all the rest should be banned. That avoids all this argument.

well dont arest me ok :)
cause i think of it as renting lol
i only play demos on my psp thoug i usally buy or rent the game. but i herd that if you have the game it is about the same of making a copy. i think its different if you have it on the comp and loose the disc well u have the file " right". and it saves time and money. rather than having to buy a new one. 2nd it helps gloabal warming if you dont buy another. if you download its more efficiant. also if you have a laptop. chit i killed two birds in one stone i guess. ahah

Hey.. It's a free world. (or it was once before the dcma came along)
I wasn't having a go at anybody ;) well possibly a bit of a dig at thirst, but he can take it.. hehehe
Neph seems in a very patient mood today.. Makes a nice change, he must be having a nice time shooting things...
Now I'm going to scarper before I get told off for chatting. The point is.. aD doesn't support condoning or encouraging of piracy in any shape or form.. It's pretty lax really, but links to torrent sites are out, and links like you found somewhere else here are totally against the rules (and I wouldn't like to be one of the people running that site when they get caught)
Take care, and enjoy your time here.. in the words of the great (and much missed) ddp "Teach and Learn"

watas,
Your information is wrong, your attitude sucks and posting a link to a PSP game scam site went too far.
Thread closed.
