Nero wont recongise my dvd burner why?

Hi Nero wont recongise my dvd burner all of a sudden it keeps opening the cd burner but cant burn dvds with that i have tryed going into the choose recorder menu have tryed all of them what else can i do?

Your burner may require a firmware update....try this

Right click..My Computer.....Properties...Hardware..Device Manager...(locate burner)..right click and then select Update driver.

UPDATE:

So i tryed uninstalling the dvd device still nothing its been installed again, still not working. Just opened my computer and took the cable out my cd drive and left it just in my dvd device, tryed burning again with Nero and now i cant put in a writing speed and when i click the ok button all i can see is Image Recorder :( anything else i can try???

I have a similar problem with the DVD burner you gave me last night: it can burn CDs but can not burn DVDs when trying to make a data DVD(eg to burn photos). I can burn .ISO files but nothing else.
When I insert a blanc DVD inside, the DVD burner can only detect as a CD.
I usually use Nero but I installed Roxio and I still have the same problem.
Can anyone please help?
