I believe my wiikey install was successful, I had no troubles loading the wiikey setup disc version 1.2. I have about a dozen wii backups but none of them will load. When I pop them in the game splash screen is displayed, but when I click start the games always display a message like
"The Game Disc could not be read. Please read the Wii Operations Manual for more information."
I've tried many different brands of blank dvds, tried burning at different speeds, and tried DVD+R as well as DVD-R. If I turn off the region fix, the game splash screen doesn't even display and I just see an error that the disc can't be read. I've tried setting the disc speed to both 3x and 6x but to no avail. Does anybody have any ideas? Do you think I'll have better luck with a different burner? Is there some other option I could try?
what were the brands of DVDs you tried? I had same problem and it was the DVD brand I was using I switched to Verbatim and the only problem I have now is reading NTSC-JPN

Your help is much appreciated!
Use a different burner. If you can, have a friend with a different burner burn you a game and see if that fixes it before you go and buy a new burner.
I just tried burning a few games on a different burner, the one in my laptop, but I'm still getting the same problem. I ordered that pioneer burner that everybody is saying works like a charm and should be getting it this week.
But is there a possibility that its not the burner or media? After trying many different brands and 2 different burners, I'm suspecting something must be wrong. Is there any way to play backups besides using writable dvds? Has anyone written any software to load ISOs from an external hard drive or anything?
I have my new burner now, the Pioneer DVR-111D, which is what I've seen other people using. I updated the firmware to the most recent version. I burned on a Verbatim 16x DVD-R blank disc at 4x speed. When I popped the game into my Wii, I saw the spash screen page but then when I clicked Start it simply said the disc could not be read.
