Better check if the jumpers are on a good configuration, or install
the drivers.

good luck

How old is this drive? Sometimes they just up and die. I had one go on me in a similar way; but try ddp's and Leningrad's suggestions first.

If my method fails to work go to the BIOS and auto-detect drives
(sometimes BIOS does not detect drives at first so you need to
manually do it)

Excellent suggestion. And, hayes07, sometimes these drives will die on you even within a month or two of installation. It has happened to me.

Could the ribbon cable be loose from the drive. Would the drive spin up with just power connected?? Couldn't hurt to open case and make sure it's seated properly. Just a thought.

(Laughs) Now i understand why you cant understand ddp's questions.

But as a member im gonna help you do it.

1.Enter BIOS (Basic I/O system)get there by restarting the computer
when the system will be checking the memory press DEL or F1.

2.You will be greeted by a blue screen, now each BIOs is
different via versions. Therefore i can only give you a basic explanation.

3.Look for something like Auto-check IDE drives (If you have IDE )
if you have a SCSI drive the configuration is similair.

4.It should give your HDD model and Cdrom (Example:SONY**-*** )
Select that and install it.

5.Now save and Quit.

regards
