Many people state that in order to make a succesful backup of a game, you have to have a specific LG DVD drive to read it properly. I read the following on the description of the Wiikey however: "Unique disc backup application via sdcard ".

How does that application work? Do you get a 4gig SDcard, stick it in, and dump from the disc in your console to the SDcard, then stick your SD card in your computer and burn a new DVD off of it? Is that a method you could use to copy your master disc, or is the only solution the LG drive?

it works great.

you stick the 4GB sd into a sdcard/gamecube memory card adapter, NOT the wii itself[as i'm guessing your already assuming]. go to the gc forum for more on sd/mem card adapter. also, your description is pretty accurate: stick, rip[after allocating size], stick[dump the contents of the sd onto the computer >MAY BE DONE IN PARTS< [so you would only need like a 1GB or so]], [after the probably multiple part dumping is done] burn onto dvd.

yes. lg's are cheap? so why not?

damn, i want a wiiiiiii[sp?].

jgarces07:The shoulder buttons on my DS (not Lite) are not working. Any advice?
nintenut:This is going to sound a bit odd, but it works, put your lips around the trigger and blow really hard, it works.
bee_cup: My DS Lite L button don't work...
nintenut: Put your mouth on it and blow, gets the dust out, and sounds obscene!

the lg drive is like 23$ shipped at newegg... I think the adapter is like 15$ soooo in my opinion the lg drive seems to be a better solution.

I recently got myself an LG drive but have been having lots of problems ripping Game Cube games with RawDump getting "arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow" errors. Some people say that this problem is caused by the disk being dirty or scratched, in which case there isn't much I can do about it when using the LG drive as the media is damaged, however the originals of all the games I am backing up work perfectly in my Wii console, which must mean that the Wii can read them.

Thus I am planning to buy a Gecko SD card adapter to try dumping the games using my Wii drive, which can obviously read all the data on the disks.
