Yes, thats the right drive, it rips perfectly, i just bought it last week. No it is not a burner... and as per dvds I hear that verbatim -rs work great.
something concerns me tho, how come only those (4) LG drives (read) can do wii and gamecube, well bascially are their drives that do both! take out the image and burn as well
is verbitum DVD+R? acceptable for this drive...my friend has a bundle he never used b4
Verbatim DVD+Rs should work fine (although I swear by -R...personal preference). Just make sure that your DVD burner has the latest and greatest firmware installed, and you start burning at a slow speed. I started burning at 4x and now 8x. I could probably go up to 12x, but it only saves a few minutes, so I'm not gonna risk it.
