i have an AVI file i want to play, i downloaded different codecs for windows media player and usually i can see AVI films there but it just says that its searching for codecs and nothing happens. I tried irfanview but just got video compressor not found. can anyone point me in the right direction? ALI

Try either VLC Media player, or Media Player Classic. Both are free and can be found here on aD.

If that doesn't work, run the file through GSpot (get it here on aD too) and post the results back here.

Then, we can find out what you need to play this AVI! :-)
