dvd drive showing up as cd drive?

hey i have a dvd burner and under computer it is showing up as a cd drive, i tryed to burn something to a dvd and it is not working. can someone help me out

Is it showing as a cd drive when you have a blank in it?
That's normal and ok.

What are you trying to burn? What's happening and/or error message?
Programs using? Media using?
