I have a movie (.vob files) on my HD that I want to convert to .avi. Using DVDx 2.8 on a 3.8 GHZ dual core Pentium/Windoz xp sp2 box. DVDx is the only thing running. I configure DVDx according to this guide:
AVI-or-MPG-Formatted-Files" target="_blank">http://www.wikihow.com/Rip-DVDs-to-Small...Formatted-Files
and the only changes I make are that the output is 24 fps, NTSC, 350x240 resolution and the input and output file specs.
While doing the conversion, the preview display is very jerky. When I play the resultant AVI file, I've seen two problems: The playback is very jerky and the audio is in sync with it, OR, there are noticably dropped frames that seems to happen periodically and the audio is out of synch and also suffers periodic drop outs. I have tried several conversion variations (e.g. different video resolutions, different audio rates, etc). and they all result in one of the two described problems. I tried it on a differnt PC and same problem...what am I missing?
Can anyone suggest another, decent quality 'freeware' program?
(I understand AGK basic will convert to AVI).
Is there a way to turn off the preview?
Is there a way to speed up the process...it takes about 3.5 hrs to do a 2 hr movie....
Thanks
John
