Need help with .bin and .cue files

so i've downloaded a movie and it's finished fine
but when i tried to open it with VLC, it will start and
you can hear the sound and the picture starts to come
up, but then it just quits all of a sudden
i've also tried DivX player and it said the file format
could not be submitted

i've tried everything and i tried downloading
the things from this site also, but those don't
work either...

is it because i have a mac?
