is it true that an xbox 360 an be moded and if so how does it require a mod chip or can the drive be flashed as i have heard this is possible

this should have been a question you should post in the 360 section.
Yes, some models of the 360 can be modded by flashing the drive. There are currently 2 drives out there that do not yet have a fkash available. And as far as i know there is no way for you to tell which drive you get until after you get it, unless you buy it on Ebay where they may mention which drive it has.

Flashing requires your PC to have SATA slots and a compatible chipset running them, and also you must open the 360 to do it, voiding your warranty.
