Well your not using the good stuff Jurgen. It's best to use Yuden000T02 or MCC04 when using DVD+R media. That's TY's and Verb's 8x and 16x respectively. I don't recommend 16x media for PS2 games, too many mixed results. You're using Sony's own manufactured DVD+R's, which are good, but not great. They're certainly not equivalent to Verb and TY's.

yeah i know,say... do you always have your solidburn activated?? for known and unknown media? And if so,did you notice better results after using a couple of discs for the same brand and same spindle?

I was reading in the one thread where CatFreak said to disable WOPC. He's burned over 10,000 DVD's, trust me, he knows what he's talking about. I always leave SolidBurn on, never tested it without it. It's not really worthwhile, I'm very happy with my burn quality.

Sorry if this is a repeated question, but how does booktyping help out?

I have a NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A burner so can only burn DVD+Rs for my PS2.

Yes. Book typing DVD+R's to DVD-ROM improves compatiblity with your PS2.

Nah I've never bothered with turning it off. I guess theoretically I should for a couple burns to test it out, but I'm not really concerned with quality, almost all my burns have max 5 PIF's or less.

My backups were never working even with verbatim until i set the burn speed to maximum! even my cheap unbranded dvd's work fine when burned at maximum speed. while when burned at any other speed they wont even boot!

i use a v7 ps2
& swapmagic 3.6

Most likely there was something you were overlooking. Either they were 16x Verb's, your firmware wasn't up to date, burner wasn't in DMA mode, etc.
