ricarga:
I have the same problem dumping with a LG8164B, I get to 90% and it stops, the iso file generated is just about 4G which is not close to be 90% of 7G, have you fixed your problem? have you tried 'friidump -d x: -i ssbb -4' command ? I will, will let you know my results.

I finally have a working copy of Brawl!
I have a US WII 3.2U, with a wiikey, updated to 1.9g
1. Original didn't work, of course, but I didn't know when buying it
2. I busted my download capacity for the month, so I tried ripping instead of downloading
3. Friidump 0.40 didn't work for me, it always stops at 45%
@chilihead: I used the right drive letter
4. I installed a switch
It disables the wiikey as planned
5. Unfortunately, the original plays except few characters: nes, peach and metaknight, where it hangs. This is really strange and I suspect my disk is not OK, which could explain why I cannot dump it with frridump 0.40
6. I tried the WIIZARD version (a friend downloaded it for me) without the layer break and got an error 001: unhautorized devide detected...
Tip: always start from a good rip or from the downloaded version with the right file size, as my copy of an non-working copy, even with the manual break, didn't work.
Finally! The WIIZARD version WITH manual layer break using memorex is working, which makes my switch useless until the next double layer original game...
Thanks for all the information and tentative help. Some mysteries will remain, but the game copy now plays well.

In case some didn't realized it, like me, the wiikey team delivered an update yesterday, the 1.9s release. I just installed it and yes, my original is finally working with the wiikey on, but still crashes with the nes character. The copy is working better.
But for all trying to rip or burn and have issues, update your wiikey, it is simple and fast, don't forget to do it twice, the firwt pass is for testing, the second pass really updates the chip.
You can find the update at
wiikey.cn

type command: friidump -d B: -a (where B: is your disk drive to use)
using friidump 4.0 this resumed my original friidump 3.0 90%rip and completed the entire double layer rip. After typing the command, have patients, I waited several minutes until the disk drive actually found where the 90% mark was and started adding to the file.

Thanks for the help. I tried this before except i didnt wait around long enough to pursue it. It went back to 50% which i think is normal because this is a dual layer disc. How do i burn this once its complete? It will be 8gb wont it?

Hi,
I was recently trying to backup Warioware Smooth Moves with Friidump, because I receive an unhandled error with rawdump...
When I try with Friidump, the program seems to be working, but the image that it creates is a file type that non of my programs can read. And its size is 0 KB.
Also, I tried leaving friidump working a while making the iso, but it stopped when it had 90% done...
Someone knows what's going on?
Thank you

Does anyone know if it's possible to resume a dump, if it's been renamed? I'm dumping Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and because of the special character, it needs to be renamed.(thanks to dailun for the heads up on this)
So using Friidump 0.4.0, command "friidump -d x: -i Metroid3.iso"
Then it stops about halfway through. Usually this happens to me when there's a scratch or something on the disc, if I restart the program, resume the dump, most of the time it gets past this and keeps dumping (it plays fine too by the way.)
But to resume, I can only use "friidump -d x: -a", which doesn't let me resume my renamed one. Does anyone know if I can somehow do this?

Addition: I would usually use rawdump, but after working fine for a few months, my rawdump is now giving me the error "Error!! Your drive may be faulty!!", when it's detecting the disc (getting the disc name), before it's even searching for seeds. Does anyone know what's the problem with this?

I'm pretty sure your problem is the same as mine when it came to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The presence of the ':' in the game name stuffs it up when Friidump automatically assigns it a name. The same happened to me with Metroid, it gave a 0kb file, even after dumping for 7 hours, and a file type that nothing can open.
You need to rename the file with "friidump -d x: -i 'filename.iso'", and hopefully that will work for you.

Is it an absolute must that those LG drives be used to create the ISO? I just used a Friidump 0.3.0 on a Toshiba TS-L802A. It recognized as a Wii disk. My ISO was exactly 4,699,979,776 bytes. I attempted to burn with Roxio 7 and got an 0x000...04 error. but it will burn everything else fine. Is this just typical for not using the LG recommended drives? These are my friidump stats

It seems like its not reading the game title and creating the iso name properly, unless you´ve just edited that out? Try forcing it to rename the file,
'friidump -d x: -i gametitle.iso'
See if that helps, because right now it seems like its creating an iso with no name? Unless you really have edited that out, in which case I look like an ass. Haha.

it was a blank file name. I renamed in windows after dump. I used roxio with no luck burning. Tried nero and it burned 10%. Then I got ImgBurn and worked perfectly. My wasabi is coming in the mail next 2 days. I will update if my attempts are successful.

What game is it, just out of curiosity? And if you have the time/effort to, try redumping it and forcing the rename with FriiDump, and see if the renamed iso will burn with Roxio or Nero?

I have an LG DVD ROM that i was ripping from and using Friidump it worked perfect, no errors. Only real issue i didnt notice was that the game i ripped was a DL game. The game was 8gig (approx) and when i put it into RegionFrii it said my NTSC USA game was actually a JAP region game. I can of course change the region with RegionFrii no problem but the real issue / question is:
Is it possable to rip a 8gig DL game and change it to single layer 4.37gb? I know it HAD to be possable since the game i ripped (Spyro the Eternal Night) i can download a 4.37gb version. Do i have to set my DVDROM to US region so it will only read the US part? Is that how a DL disk works? Both regions on one CD and let the Wii figure out what region to play? I guess im wondering how to chop a 8gig DL game onto ONE normal DVD+R

This happened to me as well when I dumped CSI: Hard Evidence using Friidump. Took over 4 hours to find out that was a wait of time. I also tried changing the name.iso but still didnt work. I'm just going to stick with Rawdump, works every time.
