emule ports are unreachable

Dear group:

I am not using a router. I have tried several TCP ports including 4226 and 4221. When I click on an emule server name I still get "your port #### is unreachable". How can I solve this problem?

Open ports in windows firewall and any other firewall you have.

Do you connect directly to internet?

Is it possibble to give me a idea of how you connnect to the 'Net?

P.S. If i'm right, i think that the emule server has been shut down by some association.

Yup, the Edonkey2000 Server, which emule uses, has been shut down.
Dont go to the edonkey2000 website though as it logs your ip address.

I would stop using emule right now as they can probably see your ip address.

Are there any other p2p networks that are safe to use? Also I have the Windows firewall turned off. I use Norton's firewall. I connect to the internet with DSL modem.

Well, first of all, use utorrent and use torrents. get torrents form sites such as isohunt and torrentspy.

Second, just go to yahoo and type in edonkey2000 or donkey2000 and it will tell you that the server is down.
