is this a bad idea because, oddly enough, it seems to be the only kind of disk that works. Is it bad to use them?

I've also tried Verbatim DVD-R and DVD+R, neither worked. I am unable to buy Tayo Yuden (I've searched stores in my area to no avail). So...

Any help would be appreciated.

Well the games get to the menu and they seem funtional then it says "Unable to read disk, consult Wii info manual". WTF?

How do I update my firmware? Not sure of the exact id# of my DVD drive--it is an LG though.
