If I was you I would practice a little more, but when you do be sure to practice on points that are side by side to get the feel. That's the only hard part on the Wii is that all 4 points are right next to each other.
As far as size, the Wii points are probably a little smaller and the points on the Wii will not have those hard dots in the middle of the points so they are a lot easier to break off. Just practice more until you feel completely comfortable.
Just get some solder that already has flux in it.
And be sure to use light wire because heavy wire will weigh down and have a chance of breaking one of the points off the board.
*It's better to waste a few hours practicing than to get impatient and screw your Wii up.
If you need any help, let me know.
Later.

thanks for you help liquidsli.
how's this...
these were the smallest points i could find on this board that didnt have wire pointing thru the middle. the 4 on the left are pretty small, any smaller i don't think i would have been able to do them (that's .022 solder on the left). this took me about 5 min and i now have the confidence to perform the mod, when my wii gets here :)
wish me luck!

Try "tinning" the wires with solder first then use less solder on the spots themselves. So that when you go to put the wire on the correct spot you can basically solder the wire to the solder already on the board and you wont have a "BB" sized ball; and it will be easier to "melt" them together. Hope that is clear/helps, but all in all you are on the right track!

Try using a smaller amount of solder. Other than that it looks pretty good.

hopefully today or tomorrow. i ordered a used one off ebay cause i was tired of searching ebgames, target, etc... for the past month or so and finding the wii shelves empty everytime. i have 4 iso's so far and 2 more downloading. the only thing i need after i get my wii is an HDTV or maybe a projector with aleast 480p.

i just got my Wiikey last night, but I'm a little apprehensive about the install. I think I'm going to invite a few friends over and just take stabs at practicing for a while :/
