I was wondering what the actual difference is between running the drive at 3x or 6x?

Are there any advantages/disadvantages to running at different speeds?

it would be better and smoother if you run it at 6x but if you want a more quiet console then go for 3x. Just to let you know some games needs to be run at 6x so just go for the 6x. running at 6x would also give a better video playback compared to going on 3x.
